Baker's Dozen 1. Friday night, I went to Kohl's to find sandals for Lindsey to match the dress she was going to wear on Sunday.
2. I tried to sleep in on Saturday but I wasn't very tired so I a few chapters of
Kite Runner while Chad made the girls breakfast.
3. After he was done feeding the girls he brought me breakfast up in bed.
4. We stayed home all day on Saturday except for grocery shopping.
5. Chad detailed his truck while the girls played outside.
6. We grilled steak for supper, along with corn on the cob, roasted cauliflower and tomatoes with fresh mozzarella. YUM!
7. Kaelyn and Lindsey both ate 2 pieces of corn each. They love corn on the cob.
8. Sunday morning, Chad bought donuts for the girls.
9. Kaelyn had opening day festivities for softball.
10. After her game we had to rush home to get ready for the bridal shower we attended.
11. Lindsey was terribly behaved on the drive to the shower. She tore a rip in her tights, on purpose, then shredded them to pieces. She said evil things to Kaelyn. By the time we got to the shower she had calmed down and behaved like an angel.
12. After the shower we went home and put warm clothes on and headed to the ball field to see my neice play. Her team won.
13. We treated ourselves to pizza for supper. It had been about 5 weeks since we had pizza or any take-out.
Softball season started today. We had to be at the field at 8:45 this morning for the parade, team pictures and then a game at 10am. Did I tell you that my very first boyfriend is helping to coach K's team? His daughter is also on the team. So my husband and very first boyfriend from middle school are out on the softball field together coaching their girls. I also went to school with his wife so it was nice to see her too and Lindsey had so much fun playing with their two other children during the game.
I have a job interview on Tuesday. I'm not sure if the position is exactly what I'm looking for but it's been so long that I've had to interview that this will help me gain some confidence in the job hunting department.
I'm also thinking about having lap band surgery. I might go to an informational meeting about it this month. Just thinking right now.
My youngest darling stuck a bead up her nose last night. I would have never known if she didn't tell me. I tried so hard to get it out by covering her mouth and other nostril and having her blow hard. No luck. I even had a call into the pedi on call because I
did not want to bring her to the hospital. That would have been traumatizing to both of us. Finally, I was able to convince her to lie perfectly still and I used a tiny pair of tweezers to pull it out.
It also looks like I'll be umemployed in the near future. I really need to find a job because I'm not eligible for umemployment benefits since I'm self employed.
The sun is trying to peak out from behind the clouds but last night was a wild one. It was so windy that I couldn't stop worrying about a tree falling on our house. Geez, we've been through tropical storms with much less wind that we experienced last night. Chad is keeping an eye on his cousin's house while they are on vacation and when he went there this morning part of their fence had fallen over and their pool cover was blown completely off the pool. Luckily, we had no flooding.
Chad is on vacation this week. We have no plans. I'm working and I'm still sending the kids to my mom's house so that Chad can get some projects finished around the house. The weather is suppossed to be crappy too.
My first week on the South Beach Diet was a success with a weight loss of 7lbs. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I can stick to Phase 1 for another week. It's just too difficult for me. Today I gave myself permission to move to Phase 2 which allows some carbs to be added to my meal planning, healthy carbs. I don't find myself hungry at all. I'm filling myself with healthy food which keeps me full until my next meal. I find that I usually forget about my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks that I'm permitted.
Our weekend was busy. Saturday night Kaelyn and I went to see the high school production, Anything Goes, that Chad's teenage cousin had a part in. I wasn't sure that Kaelyn would sit still through the whole production so I was prepared to bring her home at intermission if need be since it is right next door. She was fine and she enjoyed it. I think that knowing a few kids that were in the production helped.
Kaelyn had her first softball practice of the season this morning. She's been looking forward to it but was a little disapointed that her team had been split up because their sponsor decided not to sponsor a team this year. She met her new team members this morning but she doesn't know any of them. Sometimes she can get down about those kind of things but she had a very positive attitude and is looking forward to making new friends.
I can't even explain to you how things have changed in the past month or so. She very rarely has a meltdown and she rarely obsesses over things. I think that mono was a big part of her problem last year and we had no idea. I'm glad that she seems to have finally recovered from it.
