Today we spent the day at COSI. It is just awesome there. The best children's science museum that I have ever been too. If I had known I may have bought a family membership just in case Chad and the girls wanted to go back on Monday and Tuesday. They have plans to go to the zoo but it is quite hot there.
Tonight we're suppossed to meet up with my boss and his family and possibly go out for dinner. I'm leaning towards getting take out though. We'll see.
Yesterday was our 11 yr wedding anniversary which we spent driving all day. We arrived in Columbus around 7pm and we let the kids swim while Chad went to get us something to eat. We were all tired but the girls were wound up from being in the car all day. Chad hates driving but he drove the whole trip even though I kept telling him that we could switch. Not sure what the plans are for today yet. We all need to take showers and then we'll plan our day.
It took us 6 hours, but we finally arrived in Parsippany, New Jersey. We hit a pretty bad storm in Conn. and then miles of traffic in New York. We got to our hotel at 8pm and ordered supper from TGIFriday's and I let the girls go in the pool for 20 minutes. Now Kaelyn is asleep and Lindsey is still bouncing off the walls.
I've never heard anyone saying anything nice about New Jersey but I thought that it was quite pretty. It reminded me a bit of New Hampshire, lots of granite and even lots of small mountains. In fact, our hotel is surrounded by woods.
To say that I'm a little nervous would be an understatement.....I'm alot nervous! When it was just Chad and I roadtrips were something that we looked forward to. We would often plan them last minute. Actually there wasn't really much planning. It's much more difficult when you have children in tow. We're leaving at Lindsey's naptime so I'm hoping that she'll sleep at least half of tomorrow's drive. Saturday all bets are off. Kaelyn will be busy watching movies so she's all set but movies and kid shows just don't keep Lindsey's attention for very long. We'll survive. I'm bringing my laptop so if I have time I'll post an update. Au revoir!
Wow! I really wasn't ready for Lindsey to potty train herself. She's using the potty full time with no accidents. She's still wearing a diaper while she's sleeping and if we go out. I'm amazed. I shouldn't complain one bit but we're leaving for Ohio on Friday and we're going to have to make lots of potty stops.
Yesterday was Chad's bday. I took him out to dinner (without the kids) on Saturday night and then we did a little bit of shopping. It was real nice to eat out and not have to worry about entertaining Lindsey or listen to Kaelyn ask when the food would arrive. I even had an adult beverage, a watermelon martini.
We're planning on driving for about 5-6 hours on Friday when Chad gets out of work and then we'll drive the remainder of the way on Saturday. I'm a bit nervous. The girls have never been in the car for that long. We are borrowing Chad's cousins dvd players that hook to the back of the driver and passenger seats. I have alot to do to prepare also. I've got a full work load plus I've got to pack and find a hotel to stay at overnight on Friday.
Tonight I'm taking a digital photography class. I've been wanting to do this for a long while now. Heck, maybe I'll actually learn how to use my new camera.
Lindsey has started to potty train herself. I honestly didn't think that she was ready and I hadn't brought out the potty but she started to tell me that she needed to "pee pee". We gave her a try on the toilet and sure enough she tinkled a little. The potty came down from the attic and she's been going pretty often. She's still wearing a diaper because she hasn't totally figured it out yet. Kaelyn had trained pretty easily but it was no big deal for her. Lindsey loves the excitement of going pee pee on the potty. She runs to tell her daddy and he comes to see it and then she calls her grandma. Very cute.
We're going on a road trip to Ohio. My boss is going through a difficult time with his health so he asked if I could go out to help him organize his office and catch up on some things that he has neglected. Chad and I discussed it and decided that we would take the trip as a family. We have a week to travel and two of those days will be spent at my boss' office. On the drive back we're going to stop at Hershey Park. My boss is insisting that we stay at his house but we're going to try to get a cheap hotel on priceline.com. It wouldn't be fair to the kids and they need someplace where they can just let loose.
My aunt is getting married to her long time girlfriend in August. We recently got the invitation so I mentioned it to K so that if she had any questions we'd have time to talk about it before the wedding. So I said to her, "Aunty Michelle and Shiela are getting married in August." and her response was "Oh, I thought that they were already married." I felt a sense of relief inside because I try my best to raise her to be accepting of all people but I worry about peer pressure and influences from others. I feel proud that my almost 7 year old daughter sees them simply as two individuals who love each other and want to be married.
The ants are trying to find ways to get in our house and somehow they've gained access someplace in our bathroom. I woke up to an ant crawling on my face. Gross!
