It's snowing!

My friend R, the one in the abusive marriage, seems to finally be reaching out for help. We talked for a long while about it this morning. She asked me to call the Women's Center to get information. I got the information and she's planning on going there to speak with a legal advocate. Things are a little complicated by the fact that her oldest son has Aspergers and is going quite well on the IEP program that his school has developed for him. He'd probably have to change schools because they won't be able to afford to live in that district. I'm committed to helping her figure this all out.

I just finished helping fill 360 goodie bags of candy for the school Halloween party which is being held Friday night. I don't know much about food allergies but I found out that there is a 1st grader that has a severe peanut allergy. Because of this the PTO asks the parents to donate candy for the goodie bags and the PTO provides the refreshments. The mom of the 1st grader is involved with the PTO and approves the refreshments for the evening. Parents used to send baked goods but there was no way to know for sure what was in these goodies and cross contamination could happen. I'm glad that the school has taken these types of precautions to protect this child.

Tomorrow I was suppossed to chaperone Kaelyn's field trip to the farm. It's been postponed til next Monday because we're in for a very bad Nor'easter. Instead I'll be volunteering in the classroom as I normally do on Tuesdays. I really enjoy spending the time with the children and Kaelyn enjoys having me there. It's difficult to accept that she's growing up. Today she received an invitation to a Halloween party from a boy in her class. He has older siblings and I've heard that they invite all of the kids that are in class with their children to this party. Everyone said that it's alot of fun. I've got to call the mom tomorrow to RSVP and make sure she doesn't mind if I stay for the party.

Since Lindsey has been born I've been able to avoid all the sales meetings. Now that she's turned one I really have no excuse. Wednesday I'll be at meetings all day. I'll leave the house at 7am and probably won't get home until 7pm. I think that this is the longest stretch of time that I've been away from Lindsey. Chad took a vacation day to watch her. I hope that she doesn't give him a hard time.

I hadn't watched the news for a couple of days and didn't realize how bad the flooding was going to be for our area. We escaped without much damage but others in our area are still underwater. Our roof did start leaking last night right into our bedroom. It was only in one spot and just left a water mark on our ceiling. Our cellar got a little water but not enough to even need the pump. Chad is going to open the cellar windows in the morning to dry it out as much as he can. The weather channel is calling for sun and lots of wind for tomorrow.

I got my first call from the school nurse today. Kaelyn had a belly ache and went to the bathroom but didn't make it. The school nurse cleaned her up the best she could and then called me. I went to get her and she came home and took a bath. She's still not feeling well. Lindsey has this same stomach bug all week. It's a good weekend to chill at home and relax.

Eeyore
Eeyore,

Last night I ran the air conditioner on low. I wasn't planning on it but it was warm and humid, teens coming and going from the Homecoming Dance were loud, and then the rain starting coming down hard. I didn't expect to use it in Oct. and we shouldn't need to until next summer. Chad is going to take them out tomorrow. It's suppossed to be cool and rainy all week. I'd like to find a rain slicker for Kaelyn. I'll add that to my list of things to do tomorrow.

We had a wonderful vacation. Chad's cousin and his family went with us so I had help with the kids. That made things much easier. We got a great deal at Disney which gave us a free dining package. We made reservations at the top restaurants that wouldn't normally be in our budget. It was free and we ate like royalty. Our dinner bill was between $130-$140 each night for the three of us. Lunches averaged around $40 but we didn't have to pay.
